Health Qigong Canada Association (HQCA) is proud to announce that HQCA Team Canada has just come back Toronto with bronze medal from the Fourth TreX-Games --an event held in Busan South Korea from September 25 to October 2, 2008.
This was a year of firsts for the TreX-Games as this was the first time the event was held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee, as well as the first time Health Qigong was given the recognition of having its own category. Team Canada was represented by the Health Qigong Canada Association (HQCA) and represent they did. HQCA is proud to announce that our Canadian athletes - Michelle Kinney, Edward Ho, Eldora Lam, and Christine Paige - gave an outstanding performance and was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Qigong category, with the Gold and Silver medal going to China and Hong Kong respectively. Team Canada's efforts were captured beautifully on film by the team photographer, Angela Ho.
The Fourth TreX-Games came to a close on October 2nd, 2008 in Busan, South Korea. This 8-day athletic competition is held by the Trim And Fitness International Sport for All Association (TAFISA) once every four years, much like the International Olympics.
With unwavering sporting spirit, our team overcame the many challenges involved with long-distance travel into foreign countries, time zone differences, as well as the ailing health that ensued. Needless to say, the effort, motivation, and tremendous commitment demonstrated during these games began long before the opening ceremonies commenced.
Credit must also be given to Professor Zhang and Professor Tong, both of whom gave their guidance and expertise as they led our team through numerous training sessions leading up to the competition. With their help, Canada has made a proud debut. Hopefully this will inspire more support from fellow Canadians as well as the government to encourage our athletes to continue to represent us on the international stage.
Let us celebrate the success of our team, third position which is virtually the gold medal out side of Greater China. Because China team won gold, and Hong Kong team won silver medal.
